Guest Tracking

Guest tracking lets someone record live stats for a game without creating a GamePulse account. It is designed for quick, one-off situations where a helper needs to track a game with minimal setup.

What Is Guest Tracking?

Guest tracking provides a simplified version of the live tracker that anyone can use — no sign-up, no profile, and no account required. A guest can record stats for a single specific game and the data is saved to that game just like any other tracked event.

How It Works

  1. A Club Admin or Team Admin generates a guest tracking QR code or invite link from the game card on the team dashboard.
  2. The guest opens the link or scans the QR code on their phone.
  3. The guest lands on the /games/track-guest page, which loads the tracker for that specific game.
  4. The guest taps stat buttons to record events in real time, just like a regular tracker.
  5. All tracked data syncs to the game in real time and appears on the dashboard for authenticated users.

Who Is It Useful For?

Guest tracking is ideal for:

  • Parents helping out — A parent on the sideline who wants to help track without committing to an account.
  • Visiting coaches — A fill-in coach or assistant who is only involved for one game.
  • Fill-in helpers — Anyone asked to help with tracking on short notice, such as an older sibling or club volunteer.

Limitations

Guest tracking is intentionally limited in scope to keep things simple:

  • Single game only — The guest link is tied to one specific game. It cannot be used for other games.
  • No dashboard access — Guests can track stats but cannot view the game analysis dashboard or any charts.
  • No historical data — Since there is no account, there is no profile to store history. The guest has no way to look back at previously tracked games.
  • No team chat or notifications — Guests do not have access to team chat, notifications, or any club-level features.
  • No data saved to a profile — Tracked data is attached to the game, not to the guest. There is no guest profile or identity stored.

Tip: If someone regularly helps with tracking, consider asking them to create an account and join the team as a Tracker. This gives them access to the full dashboard, historical game data, and the ability to track any game without needing a new link each time.
